Paint to music

This is our last assignment which is "paint to music" activity. It is the most relaxing and fun assignment  throughout this semester for me! HAHA :D

For this assignment, we divided into two sessions which are one to contemporary music and the other to classical music. We bought two canvases which are 50cm by 60cm and 60cm by 90cm. Since lecturer gave us to use any medium as we like, I chose to use watercolour to both canvases.

Here we go! :D

Batik trip

We had a batik trip on 29th November 2013 and I really enjoyed the process of making a batik.

At first, we came up with few sketches and the "feng shui painting" was approved by Miss Lisa. Then, we had group discussion and found some references.

So, this is what we came up with.

Monograms

Our new assignment is coming again. This assignment is to create own monogram based on our name. We were requested to come up with at least 10 different designs. After finalising our design, we needed to cut the monograms and printed onto six different products.

Since my name is Jocelyn Teng, I decided to use the initials of my name, JT. I tried up different fonts onto my monograms.

Brainstorming ideas......

Different design of my given name

After that, Miss Lisa asked me to work out on this design.

Keep improving......

And this is my final design of my own monogram.

I chose six products and printed out my finalised stencil design in different sizes.

I cut out three different sizes to fit it to the six products' surface by using spray mount.
And I also adjusted the positions of the monograms onto the products.

1. Sketchbook

2. Food Container

3. Small Pillow

4. Box

5. Envelop

6. Carpet

Thinking out of the box

As a break from making lanterns, Miss Lisa gave us a simple assignment to do - thinking out of the box. So, what is your creativity inside and outside the square?
What is your square?

For this assignment, we were asking to cut out our designs by six inches paper square.
This assignment is split into two parts which is an asymmetrical and a symmetrical design.
We were given one and a half hour to explore our ideas by using cutout techinque.

Finally, I chose a "freedom" as my theme.

At first, i did many sketches but I am not really satisfied with my own sketches so Miss Lisa give me some ideas to improve it.
Here's one of my sketches and I tried to cut it out. This is final work.

During two weeks of doing this expansion of square, I decided to change my theme to "ROMANCE".
This assignment really push me to think more and more and stimulate our creativity and imagination.
